Maken Hands-On Detailing Training Program (International)
Our Maken Training Program is a hands-on, professional car detailing workshop designed to share Japan’s renowned detailing expertise with global partners. In this intensive 2–3 day course held at our lead instructor’s workshop in Japan, you will learn the art and science of automotive detailing – from expert car washing and paint polishing to advanced coating application – all using Maken’s premium products. The program goes beyond techniques, imparting deep knowledge, skills, and the professional mindset needed to excel in the detailing business. Whether you’re an experienced detailer or an entrepreneur looking to introduce high-end detailing services, this program will empower you to deliver top-tier results and grow your business.
Immersive Hands-On Training in Japan
Train directly under seasoned Japanese detailing experts in a real workshop setting. The program emphasizes practical, learn-by-doing experience so you can immediately apply the skills in your own business. You’ll work side-by-side with our instructor on actual vehicles, mastering each step of the process. This immersive approach ensures you gain confidence with professional tools and techniques, transforming knowledge into job-ready skills.
- Hands-On Practice: Tackle every stage of detailing – washing, polishing, and coating – on real vehicles. Under expert guidance, learn how to remove stubborn water stains and contaminants during washing, efficiently correct paint imperfections through machine polishing, and apply ceramic coatings with proper surface preparation for long-lasting protection.
- Expert Techniques: Understand the “why” behind each method. Our trainer will share the fundamentals of paint care, scratch removal mechanics, proper tool usage, and chemical selection, so you not only follow steps but truly grasp how to achieve the best results. Even the most advanced products perform best with the right technique – and we make sure you learn both the art and science of using Maken’s lineup effectively.
- Professional Mindset: Detailing in Japan is known for its meticulous attention to detail. You’ll absorb this philosophy – focusing on quality, customer satisfaction, and pride in workmanship. By the end of the training, you’ll approach each detailing job with a refined eye and a commitment to excellence that will set you apart in your market.
Comprehensive Detailing Skills & Knowledge
Our curriculum is comprehensive, covering both practical skills and theoretical knowledge to elevate your detailing services:
- Advanced Car Wash Techniques: Learn how to safely and thoroughly clean vehicles, including methods to eliminate tough water spots and grime that regular washes can’t remove. We introduce special cleaning chemicals and tools, and show you how to maximize results while saving time and effort (turning what many consider a simple wash into a value-added service).
- Paint Polishing & Correction: Master the use of dual-action and rotary polishers, polishing pads, and compounds to remove swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation. You’ll gain an understanding of different paint types and hardness, the mechanics of how scratches occur, and the proper techniques to restore a mirror-like gloss without risking the clear coat. This module builds your confidence in performing paint correction – a high-demand skill among premium detailing services.
- Coating Application & Surface Preparation: Discover the professional approach to applying ceramic coatings and other protective layers. We stress that proper surface preparation is the key to a durable, high-quality coating. You’ll learn how to perfectly prep the paint (polishing oils removal, panel cleaning) and the best practices for applying Maken coatings evenly. We also cover maintenance techniques, so you can educate your clients on caring for their coated vehicles post-service.
- Product Knowledge & Selection: Become well-versed in the full Maken product lineup – from compounds and polishes to coatings and specialty chemicals. You’ll learn how to choose the right product and tool for each task, understanding the pros and cons of various materials. This knowledge ensures that you can make informed decisions and achieve optimal results for any detailing scenario.
- Quality Control & Efficiency: We share tips on how to maintain high quality while working efficiently. Learn to identify what a car’s surface needs through inspection, how to avoid common mistakes, and how to set up your workspace for a smooth workflow. By training with an expert, you pick up nuances in technique and workflow management that can greatly improve your productivity without sacrificing quality.

Business Growth & Global Perspective
What sets the Maken Training Program apart is its focus on not only technical skill but also business success and adaptability. We are committed to helping you translate these new skills into a thriving service in your home country.
- Strategic Business Insights: The training includes guidance on monetizing detailing services and improving your operations. From setting up your service menu (e.g. turning a “free car wash” into a paid, premium service package) to pricing your work correctly and estimating jobs, we share strategies to boost profitability. You’ll learn how high-quality detailing can distinguish your business and how to communicate that value to customers so they understand and appreciate paid detailing options.
- Tailored to Your Market: We recognize that every country and market has unique conditions – climate, common vehicle types, customer expectations, and even cultural perceptions of car care. Our instructor will discuss how to adapt techniques and products to your local environment. Whether it’s dealing with tropical weather effects on paint, sandy conditions, or simply aligning with local customer preferences, we ensure the methods you learn are relevant and applicable back home. This global perspective means you leave with a plan on how to implement services that fit your specific market.
- Inspirational Experience: Training in Japan, where car detailing is practiced as a fine craft, will inspire you. You’ll not only gain skills but also an appreciation for the detailing ethos – the pride in doing each job with excellence and the joy of seeing a car rejuvenated. We aim to spark ideas for your own business and motivate you to elevate the standards of car care for your clients. Many participants find that learning in a different cultural setting refreshes their passion for their work, which in turn inspires their team and customers when they return.
- Exclusive Maken Partnership: Upon completing the program, you become part of the extended Maken family. This means you will be authorized to use and import Maken products for your business. As an official partner, you’ll have access to our full professional product range and the right to represent and distribute Maken in your region (subject to agreements). This is a powerful advantage – you’ll be working with top-tier, made-in-Japan detailing supplies that set your services apart from competitors. Your customers will see the difference in quality, and you’ll have a unique selling point as a provider of Maken-approved services.
- Post-Training Support: Our support doesn’t end when the workshop does – it’s just the beginning of our partnership. We continue to assist you even after you’ve returned to your country and started applying what you learned. Whether you have technical questions, need advice on a challenging project, or require guidance on business decisions as you expand your detailing services, we’re here to help.
